Preferred Networksでは、JAXA宇宙戦略基金の採択課題「衛星データとAI融合による次世代気象予測基盤の構築（2025年度〜2027年度末　研究代表者：前田 新一）」に従事するパートタイムリサーチャーを若干名募集します。当課題では、機械学習、統計推定の技術を活用したAI気象予測の研究開発に取り組む人材を広く募集します。具体的には、数値モデルに対するAIサロゲートモデルの構築や衛星の情報を最大限活用するAIデータ同化、風速・日射量・降水量・河川水位、降雹、落雷といった気象関連事象の予測モデル構築のいずれかのタスクに取り組むことになります。

以下のいずれか、あるいは複数の研究を行うことが期待されます。

1. 数値モデルに対するAIサロゲートモデルの構築と評価
2. 衛星データのAIデータ同化手法の開発と評価
3. 風速・日射量・降水量・河川水位、降雹、落雷といった気象関連事象の(いずれかの)予測モデル構築と評価
4. 種々の地理空間情報をもとに基盤モデルを活用した検索、分析、評価を行うミドルウェア構築

Preferred Networks, Inc. is recruiting a small number of part-time researchers to work on the JAXA Space Strategy Fund selected project: “Building a Next-Generation Weather Forecasting Platform through the Fusion of Satellite Data and AI” (FY2025 through the end of FY2027; Principal Investigator: Shinichi Maeda).

This project broadly seeks researchers and engineers who will engage in R&D on AI-based weather prediction utilizing technologies such as machine learning and statistical estimation. Specific topics include (but are not limited to):

• Building AI surrogate models for numerical weather prediction models
• AI-based data assimilation that maximizes the use of satellite information
• Developing prediction models for weather-related phenomena such as wind speed, solar irradiance, precipitation, river water level, hail, and lightning

You are expected to conduct one or more of the following research activities:

• Development and evaluation of AI surrogate models for numerical models
• Development and evaluation of AI-based data assimilation methods for satellite data
• Development and evaluation of prediction models for one of the following meteorological/hydrological phenomena: -wind speed -solar irradiance -precipitation -river water level -hail -lightning
• Development of middleware to perform search, analysis, and evaluation using foundation models based on various geospatial information

Qualifications / 応募資格（必須）

• 研究開発に必要なPythonプログラミングスキル

• PyTorchフレームワークを用いた深層ニューラルネットワークモデルに関する実装経験

• 日本語能力（日常会話レベル）

• Python programming skills necessary for research and development

• Implementation experience with deep neural network framework PyTorch

• Japanese language ability (daily conversation level)

Preferred Qualifications / 応募資格（歓迎）

• データ同化に関わる統計推論の知識

• 気象・水文に関わる物理学に関する知識

• 大規模言語モデル（LLM）を活用したサービスの実装やPoCの経験

• 複数人のチームでの共同開発の経験

• 学会での研究発表/論文発表

• Knowledge of statistical inference related to data assimilation

• Knowledge of physics related to meteorology and hydrology

• Experience implementing services or PoCs utilizing large language models (LLMs)

• Experience in collaborative development within a multi-person team

• Research presentations / paper publications at academic conferences

Employment Period / 雇用期間

• 業務で使用可能なノートPCのご準備をお願いしております。所定のセキュリティ対策ソフトのインストールをお願いしたうえでご利用いただく形となります。 大規模な計算機実験は、弊社のクラスタもしくはクラウドにアクセスして実施するため高い計算能力は必要としません。

• 労働時間: 週8時間以上（ただし、働く日数や時間は本人の都合に合わせて自由に調整していただいて構いません）

• フルタイム採用への優遇（選考の一部免除）

• We request that you prepare a notebook PC suitable for business use. This will be provided for your use after installing the designated security software. Large-scale computational experiments will be conducted by accessing our company's cluster or cloud, so high computational power is not required.

• Working hours: 8 hours or more per week (However, working days or times can be decided flexibly)

• Preferential treatment for full-time employment. （partial exemption from selection process）
